Just One Person With Hope

Have you ever really looked at the political landscape and wonder how is this ever going to change for the better?  Are we, as a nation, ever going to turn back toward the fundimentals of less government, balanced budgets, and true equal taxation?

The pundits say that the only way that change will take place is "if we come togther."  What?  Come togehter?!  How are the people giving and the ones taking ever going to find common ground?

There is no common ground when one group of people depend on another for food, water, and shelter.  Couple that with the fact the the giving group is shrinking and those that are takers is growing steadily you come to realize that our country has a serious problem that won't be fixed through compromise.

The problem can only be fixed through major reductions in the nanny state entitlements.  That means doing away with most immediately, grandfathering some out of existance, setting real hard spending caps and living within the budget passed at the beginning of each fiscal year.  Next taxes on individuals, corporations, and small businesses need to be cut to the bare minimum to spur exconomic growth.  Finally, the union system in the public and private sector must be dismantled.

Only through lower corporate taxes and the elimination of the unions will the corporations that left for China, Mexico and India will feel that is safe and affordable to conduct opperations inside the United States.

But these transition from a culture use to the welfare state ideas to one based on the individual will not be easy or quick.  The changes will be difficult to bear and even harder to watch.  The tempation to go back to out of control giving will be great.   To witness the seemingly endless struggle of large groups of people that are totally dependent on the government for the basics of life having to "fend" for themselves will be difficult.

There will be cries for fairness.  Cries for equality.  Cries of racism.  Shouts for recalls.  There may even be violence as those that leached off of the system come to grips that the gravy train has dried up and they must earn a living.

Politicians, specifically Northeast, West Coast, and Inner City Liberals will flame the fires of economic and social divisions among the masses.  The call to reverse coarse will be loud and relentless but it must be ignored because the pain will ease and in its place a stronger more focused Nation will rise, ready to lead the world again.
